What degree are you pursuing and why?
I am pursuing the M.S. in Management because I wanted to add some business skills to my undergraduate major in biology. I wanted to be able to stand out in the job pool, and also gain the knowledge of management. I graduated with an economics minor and that also gave me more of an interest in the business side of things.
Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?
I chose Belk College of Business over other programs because of the cost and the location of the college. It is in the heart of Charlotte which aids in plenty of great opportunities. I was also really inclined to the program because it is an accelerated, 10.5-month program.
What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?
I really enjoy spending quality time with family and friends if it going to the mountains, watching a movie, or just hanging out and enjoying the city life. I also am involved with my church and the community.
What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?
So far it has been the connections I have been able to make with the other people in my program. I enjoy the cohort set up more than I thought I was going to. I was able to find people who are able to hold me accountable and understand what the challenges are and how we can all work together to excel.
How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s program?
The M.S. in Management program is a cohort of students from different undergraduate backgrounds trying to attain a base knowledge of business and management. This program is rigorous and it will teach more than expected.
How valuable do you feel this degree will be to your career?
This degree will be able to set me apart from other applicants because it is basic business knowledge to add to my undergraduate non-business degree.
