Justin is from Salisbury, NC. His undergraduate major was Political Science. What attracted him to the M.S. in Management was the ability to add business skillsets to his undergraduate degree and to diversify his business management knowledge. He would like a career in business analytics or data analysis. An interesting fact is that he has 10 years of military experience. He has a dynamic work background that spans several different industries including IT, retail, customer service, and distribution services.

Career Aspirations: Marketing and Events Manager
Haley is from Weddington, NC and studied Communications with a focus in Public Relations. What attracted her to the M.S. in Management program was how it is built for non-business majors. She admired the Program Director with her strong demeanor and wanted to be like her, so she applied to the program. She is interested in marketing and events management careers. An interesting fact about Haley is that she was at both Giants games when Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth's Records and she got to meet him!

Kyla Clark
Career Aspirations: Project Management
Kyla is originally from Alexandria, Virginia and attended high school at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. In 2014, she moved to Charlotte to further her education and play soccer for UNC Charlotte. She graduated cum laude from the UNC Charlotte in 2018 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Biology. As an undergraduate, Kyla served as a captain of the women’s soccer team and a member of the Charlotte Leadership Academy. She is excited to currently be a part of the first-ever cohort of the M.S. in Management Program at UNC Charlotte. The program provides the opportunity to gain business experience through various rigorous courses and additional experiences within the cohort. Leadership development and career development are also fostered throughout the program, ensuring preparation for future professional opportunities. She is excited about the opportunity to learn from and to contribute to the program’s future as a member of the first-ever cohort, this being a once in a lifetime opportunity. This experience is growing Kyla not only as a professional but as an individual. She currently works for Soccer Shots Charlotte and Charlotte Soccer Academy as a coach. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, reading, watching movies and playing/watching sports.

Micah is from Winston Salem, NC. Micah is a double major in Psychology and Spanish and she studied abroad in Spain for a semester. She is already an entrepreneur and co-founded I.M. Beauty LLC. She was attracted to the M.S. Management program because she saw she could complete a business degree in 10.5 months.

Hannah is originally from Winston Salem, NC and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and English from UNC Charlotte in 2018. What attracted her to this program was the fact that she could get her master's within a year while working in a cohort learning environment. She looks forward to beginning her career in Human Resources upon graduation. She has extensive experience in customer service and training and in her free time, she enjoys playing sports.

Elisabeth Goodman
Career Aspirations: HR Manager & Non-profit Founder
Elisabeth Goodman was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. A graduate of the UNC Charlotte with a B.S. in Psychology and minors in biology and public health, she is honored to be a member of the first cohort pursuing an M.S. in Management at her alma mater. She endeavors to compliment her social science background with business acumen. Upon graduation, Elisabeth plans to pursue a career in human resources and hopes to start a non-profit dedicated to serving families, specifically single fathers and their children. She has spent the past five years volunteering in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and is passionate about education. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and a good book. Due to her intense interest in history, Elisabeth would love to be an archaeologist.

Chris Hassard
Career Aspirations: Business Consultant
Chris Hassard is from Salisbury, NC and graduated with a B.S. in Mass Communication, with a concentration in Broadcasting from UNC Pembroke in 2018. During his undergraduate career, he played college football at UNC Pembroke, starting as a Redshirt Freshman. As a senior, he completed an internship with UNC Pembroke Sports Network, contributing to audio and video of live events. Currently, he is a graduate student in the UNC Charlotte M.S. in Management program and will graduate in May of 2019. The management and business skills obtained from this degree will help him pursue his career interest in management, business and consulting. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, weightlifting and golfing.

Shante Hutchinson grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She graduated with a B.S. from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in 2016, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. During her undergraduate degree, Shante worked as a Microbiology Research Assistant. She traveled to Hong Kong where she worked as a Program Assistant and assisted in teaching Neuroscience. Upon graduation, Shante pursued a career in Pharmaceutical Sales and discovered a strong passion for marketing. Shante is currently exploring her passion for marketing working as a realtor in Charlotte, NC. Outside of school and real estate, Shante enjoys decorating her home, practicing yoga and traveling the world.

Ruth Jackson is a Charlotte native who graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Communication Studies. She is pursuing a career as a Medical Sales or Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. She hopes to eventually become a Training Sales Manager for a reputable medical sales company. She has always been interested in the sales and medical field and has experience in a mix of marketing, sales, business, creative coordinating and event planning. Other interests include Quidditch, volunteering at nursing homes, art and creativity, dancing, fencing, being open to trying new things and seeing new places.

Daniel Johnston
Career Aspirations: Consultant
Daniel grew up in Asheville, NC and graduated from UNC Charlotte with a B.S. in Psychology. He was drawn to M.S. in Management program at Charlotte because it offers a curriculum that is designed for students who are both eager to learn about business and have an undergraduate background from a non-business major. For most of his college career he worked on operations at the PNC Music Pavilion and as a Live Nation employee, he worked to put on over 100 concerts. His career interests include organizational development and more recently management information systems. He plans to pursue a consulting career in one of these areas after graduation.
Julia Loomer
Career Aspirations: Health & Community Professional
Julia spent four years of her undergraduate career studying public health at UNC Charlotte. Following graduation, she made a switch to pursue her M.S. in Management, so that she would be able to transform her passion for health and communities into action with a business degree. The 10.5-month program allows her to get a master’s degree in a short time period while allowing her to join the workforce as soon as possible to utilize her talents. She is excited to grow as a business professional while continuing to apply her science background to her professional career.

Noel Maekele is from Fuquay-Varina, NC. In 2018, he graduated from UNC Charlotte with a B.A. in Computer Science with a concentration in Information Technology and a minor in Communication Studies. One of Noel’s career objectives is to obtain a PMP certificate and become an IT Project Manager, so this program was a perfect fit. Noel is highly passionate about people and technology, so this program allows him to apply business acumen to his technical knowledge and obtain a diverse education. During his undergraduate degree, Noel served as a preceptor and peer mentor for the Computing Professionals course and is a current brother of the North Carolina Epsilon Chapter of Phi Delta Theta.
Deborah Martin
Career Aspirations: Marketing or Human Resources
Deborah is originally from Los Angeles, California. Her undergraduate major is in sociology with a minor in urban and youth communities. She was attracted to this program because she wants to be an entrepreneur and needed business acumen. She recognized this was a great opportunity to combine her sociology background with knowledge of business, being that sociology can be applied to just about every domain of our lives. Deborah wants to be the best version of herself and thinks this program will push her out of her comfort zone to help reach her highest potential. In addition, she has a strong passion for working with children.

Career Aspirations: Art Director, Creative Lead or Disney Imagineer
Hannah is originally from Wading River, NY and graduated with a B.A. in Art and a minor in Art History from UNC Charlotte in 2018. Her innate creative abilities have always lead her to seek a career in the arts, yet her passion for collaborative projects and travel brought her to this program. Her goal as an artistic thinker is to combine creativity with leadership, blurring the line between art and business, and to seek a career that brings her to new places and allows for new experiences. Studying management will earn her business acumen that will aid in her future profession as an Art Director, Creative Lead or Disney Imagineer.
Fun Fact: She was commissioned to paint a 40 foot mural of the Blue Ridge Mountains for a company’s call center in Charlotte, NC in 2016.
Melissa Olarte
Career Aspirations: Marketing, Human Resources and Entrepreneurship
Melissa Olarte lives in Charlotte, NC, and is an immigrant from the Philippines. She graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2017 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. She has been a sister of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. since 2015 and from this organizational leadership experience, she knows that she enjoys promoting the purposes and communicating value. She believes in expanding the organizations to whom she is dedicated, which is why she is interested in pursuing a career in the areas of marketing, human resources, and entrepreneurship. Her aspiration to employ her work ethic and experience into a corporate profession encouraged her to pursue this M.S. in Management program which she’s confident will prepare her for a promising career in business.

Jacob was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina. He graduated summa cum laude in 2017 from UNC Charlotte with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a minor in Film. During his last year as an undergraduate, he began investigating different graduate degrees and the impact they could have on his professional career. As a student who majored in the liberal arts, he was interested in programs that would provide him with the skills and knowledge to successfully enter and traverse the business sector. The M.S. in Management program at UNC Charlotte seemed like a perfect fit. He is interested in a wide variety of careers with a focus on emerging technologies and the information and entertainment industries. He enjoys playing the guitar and going to amusement parks with his best friend and twin brother.

Satya Sahoo
Career Aspirations: Technology and Innovation Management
Satya Sahoo grew up in Cuttack, India. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Technology degree in Electronics & Instrumentation in 2005. During his undergraduate, he was quite interested to learn ‘Very Large-Scale Integration’ (VLSI) and ‘Embedded System’ technologies. After graduation, he worked as an Application Engineer for several software firms. He worked with clients specialized in aerospace, automobile and electronics applications. During this tenure, he developed an interest in automatic code-generation, real-time and hardware-in-loop simulations. While working for Altair Inc, he moved to the U.S. in 2014. In his free time, he likes spending time with his daughter, running, cooking and playing Sudoku.
Amber Stallings
Career Aspirations: Business Consultant
Amber Stallings is originally from Belvidere, North Carolina and obtained her undergraduate degree in Political Science. She was originally planning to pursue law school after graduation. However, after changing her mind one month before graduation, this program sounded like a good way to be able to get into business and prepare her for a career in business consulting. She currently works as a Marketing Brand Ambassador for Google Fiber.

Randy Stitt
Career Aspirations: Corporate Diversity and Inclusion or Education Administrator
Randy B. Stitt is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a proud alumnus of East Carolina University (ECU) where he majored in public relations and African American studies. Prior to beginning the M.S. in Management program, he was the distance education and leadership development coordinator at a local high school. When searching for graduate programs, he wanted a totally opposite skill set then what he received in his undergraduate career. The well-rounded curriculum and diversity of the UNC Charlotte experience are what attracted him to the Management program. He plans on pursuing a role in corporate diversity and inclusion or returning to education and working towards becoming an administrator post-graduation.

Katelyn Thomas is originally from Leland, North Carolina. She moved to Charlotte for college in 2014 and graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Public Health and minor in communication studies, Magma Cum Laude, from UNC Charlotte. During her undergraduate education, she held the title of Vice President of Finance of her sorority and was the trauma intern at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center working with substance abuse and intervention policies and practices. Her career interests revolve around healthcare administration, particularly in the areas of quality assurance and strategic planning.
